Soul stirring Sunday

OK day 2 of the new do and I am already remembering why I like braids so much! LOL. After not having to wrap my hair at night or wear a shower cap for 2 years.....this will take some getting used to! My friends and family already have bets going on how long I will last before the braids are back. LOL

On a more serious note....

My cousin Troy's youngest of his 3 daughters was hit and killed by a car this weekend. She was only 14 years old. He saw it happen and is totally destroyed. I was shaken but ok until I talked to him today and hearing his pain and hearing him apologize to ME for not being able to make my wedding 8 years ago was too much. As if that is his biggest concern right now. I lost it when I got off the phone and finally cried. I wish there was something I could do to take away his pain. I decided to do the star registry thing...I know I know, the star will not officially be accepted in her name by astronomists but I wanted to give him something tangible. So I pick Ursa Major ( The Big Dipper) as the constellation for Rockie's memorial star and dedicated it for the date of her death. The gift card says something along the lines of...."Dear Troy, I know I can't give Rockie back to you but I can give you a piece of the heavens in her name so that when you look at the nighttime sky, you can see her spirit twinkling down at you. Love, CC & Teyonna"

Corny I know but I wanted to give him something besides flowers that will die. So they will be sending him a framed certificate with the star name (his daughter's name) and dedication date and location int he heavens. Plus a star map with her actual star circled. Real or not, the sentiment behind my gift is very real and meaningful. So if you can, keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Life can be shorter than we plan so hold on to your loved ones and make sure that everyday they know how much you care. No regrets.

Peace, Love and Hairgrease,
~CC

Got my hair did

just got back from getting my hair did...lol. after 2 years of braids, I decided to take them out for a bit and get my hair flat-ironed. OMG it has grown so much. For those that don't know....over 2 years ago I had a bad experience with some hair dye - LOL. Took alot of my hair out and broke off the rest, the top part was less than an inch long! After getting my hair cut to just below my ears, my hairdresser convinced me to do braids. I hav elistened to her and followed all of her instructions...Well today I found out that the last 2 years have paid off!! I am a hair flipping fool!! Will be going to buy a new outfit and accessories and makeup and stepping out tonight! I feel free!
